Academic Tests
Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) - The CMAS is Colorado's standardized exam for language arts, math, science and social studies. Mathematics and English are given to students in grades 3-8, while science tests are administered in grades 5, 8 and 11. Spanish language arts exams are given in grades 3 and 4 to English language learners, while social studies exams are given to students in grades 4, 7, and 11 in selected schools.
Transitional Colorado Assessment Program (TCAP) - The TCAP is administered starting in third grade. It is designed to determine whether or not students meet the Colorado Model Content Standards. Students must take the reading, writing and mathematics sections in grades 3-10 and the science section in grades 5, 8 and 10.
ACCESS for ELLs - Students who are identified as English Language Learners (ELL) must take this assessment every year in grades K-12.

Colorado Teachers Licensing and Testing - Colorado teachers must take two tests before they can be licensed. The first test is the PLACE test, which measures a teacher's knowledge of his or her specialty. This test is multiple choice. Teachers must also complete the Praxis II exam, if it is administered in their subject area.
Colorado Electrician Exams and Licensing - The State Electrical Board requires electricians to pass the electrical licensing examination before receiving a license. All licenses are issued by the State Electrical Board and are divided into the categories of Lineman, Journeyman and Master Electrician. The divisions are based on experience; the test is the same for all levels.
Colorado Hairstyling and Cosmetology Licensing and Testing - Those who wish to practice hairstyling, cosmetology or similar professions and don't have a license must pass an exam in order to receive their license. All exams are administered by Pearson VUE and candidates must register with them. The exam is waived for candidates with a license from another state.
Colorado Athletic Trainers Licensing and Testing - Athletic trainers must be licensed to practice in the state of Colorado. The Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers is in charge of licensure and requires all candidates to take and pass a certification exam before they can apply for a license.
Driver's Tests
Colorado Driving Test - To obtain a Colorado driver's license applicants must take a vision test, a written test and a driving test. All three must be passed in order for the license to be issued. They must also have a valid learner's permit. The vision test is also required for renewals.
