Academic Tests
English Language Arts and Literacy – Mathematics Assessment - Students in grades 3-8 take assessments in English language arts, literacy and math. High school students take these assessments near completion of grades 9-11 English courses and at the end of the course for algebra I and II and geometry.
Maryland Integrated Science Assessments (MISA) - Offered to students in grades 5, 8 and high school, the MISA ensures students are meeting the Maryland State Board of Education's Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
Maryland GED Program - Maryland's GED program is designed to help adults who did not finish high school to get an equivalency diploma. The program consists of tests in the language arts, science, mathematics and social studies. An essay is required. The tests are offered in several locations and take two days to complete.

Maryland Home Improvement Contractor Tests and Licensing - Home Improvement Contractors in Maryland must pass a state licensing exam. The two-part test covers both the business side of contracting and Maryland's contracting laws and regulations. Contractors have 150 minutes to finish the multiple-choice, open-book test, and they must score at least 70 percent to pass.
Maryland Refrigeration and HVAC Contractor Exam and Licensure - Refrigeration and HVAC contractors in Maryland have to pass the board's licensing exam unless they complete a three-year apprenticeship or hold a license in another state. The fee for the test varies by contractor class, but the test is always multiple choice and open book. It is offered daily.
Maryland Master Electrician Exam and Certification - Maryland requires Master Electricians to pass a certification exam. The computerized test is 240 minutes long, and each attempt costs a fee. The test covers electrical theory, wiring and protection, wiring methods and materials, general equipment, special occupancies, specialized equipment, special communications, and calculations. All test-takers must bring their own reference material.
Maryland Cosmetologist Testing and Licensing - All cosmetologists in the state of Maryland have to pass two exams before they can qualify for a license. The theory exam costs $50 and is given in multiple-choice format. The practical exam also costs $50 and all test takers must bring their own materials, including an approved mannequin.
Driver's Tests
Maryland Driving Tests - Maryland requires applicants for a Class C (non-commercial) driver's license to pass a medical screening test and a vision test before they can take the knowledge exam and a two-part driving exam. One part of the latter is conducted on a closed course, and the other is conducted on public streets.
Maryland Commercial Driving Tests - Maryland requires commercial drivers to obtain a CDL learner's permit before they can get a full license. A knowledge test, a medical exam and a vision screening are required. The full license requires a 45-minute pre-trip inspection test and a skills maneuver test. Each maneuver has a 10-minute time limit.
Maryland Motorcycle Tests - Motorcyclists must take four tests to obtain a license in Maryland: a vision test, a road signs test, a written examination and a strict driving test. Underage cyclists are required to take Maryland's Basic Rider Course. The course is optional for adults, but the driving test is waived upon completion.
