Academic Tests
North Dakota State Assessment - The North Dakota State Assessment is required for every student enrolled in public school. Grades 3-8 and 10 are tested in English language arts/literacy and math, while students in grades 4, 8 and 10 are tested in science.
North Dakota GED - Any North Dakota resident who is over 16, does not have a high school diploma and is not enrolled in high school may take the GED test. The GED covers math, reading, writing, science and social studies. Test takers have the option of taking the exams on paper or via computer.

North Dakota Real Estate Sales Tests and Licensing - In North Dakota all real estate salespersons must complete an educational course and then pass a licensing exam that is multiple choice and taken on a computer. The test is given at the real estate commission's office in Mandan and costs $130. Three and a half hours are allotted for the test.
North Dakota Cosmetologists Exams and Licensing - The state requires every cosmetologist to take a practical exam to be licensed. The exam takes three hours, has five sections and requires the use of two mannequins. The sections are: haircutting, hair styling, hair coloring, chemical waving and retouch chemical relaxing. Every applicant must pay a $30 fee for the exam.
Driver's Tests
North Dakota Driving Tests - North Dakota requires applicants to pass two tests before obtaining a driver's license. The first is a written examination; it may be taken without an appointment, and the fee is only five dollars. The second is a road test. The latter is administered by appointment only and also costs five dollars.
North Dakota Commerical Driver's Test - All those who wish to obtain a CDL in North Dakota have to meet North Dakota's medical requirements and pass both a written examination and a three-part CDL road test. The latter includes the required pre-trip inspection and tests how well the applicant handles and drives the vehicle.
North Dakota Motorcycle Tests - North Dakota requires all Class M (motorcycle) license applicants to first pass an eyesight test and a written test to get a learner's permit. Once the latter has been done, the applicant can take the Class M road test. The test is waived if he or she takes a motorcycle safety course.
