Wisconsin Life and Health Insurance Agent Exam
Need of a License: An individual who is acting as an agent or producer needs a license to sell life and health insurance in Wisconsin.Who Grants a License: Licenses are granted by the Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance.
Qualifications to receive a License: Individuals who wish to obtain an insurance license in the State of Wisconsin:
1. Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
2. Be a resident of Wisconsin.
3. Complete the pre-licensing education requirements.
4. Complete the fingerprinting requirement.
5. Make a reservation and pay the examination fee.
6. Pass the examination.
7. Apply for a license.
Prelicense Education Requirements: Each candidate must complete at least 20 hours of prelicensing education per line of insurance. Prelicensing education must be completed at a school approved by the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance. Applicants completing approved self-study prelicensing courses must also pass a proctored examination and have the proctored affidavit form submitted to the approved school to receive credit. This is in addition to the licensing examination. The prelicensing school/provider will electronically submit course completion data for each applicant. It is required to be banked within ten (10) days of course completion and/or successful completion of the self-study examination(s). Prelicensing education must be completed prior to taking the licensure examination, and is valid for one year from the date of completion. Fingerprinting Requirement: Candidate can make a reservation on Fieldprint at www.fieldprintwisconsin.com. At the time of reservation, candidate must enter the Fieldprint code
(not case sensitive): FPWIOCIInsurance.
Applying for the Producer Exam: It is highly recommended that the Wisconsin Insurance Licensing Information Bulletin be reviewed, and special attention be given to the content outlines (available at https://www.prometric.com/wisconsin/insurance), before taking an examination. The State of Wisconsin utilizes Prometric to develop and administer its insurance licensing examination program. Online reservations are the most efficient way for candidates to schedule their examination. Candidates must go to https://www.prometric.com/wisconsin/insurance to make an online reservation for an examination.
Test Information: When candidates complete the examination, they will receive a score report marked
“pass” or “fail”. Candidates who pass the examination will receive a score report with instructions on how to apply for a license. A scaled score of 70 is required to pass the exam.
